Weekly rewind - W42 ⏪
Homemade Halloween decorations.
⏪ Week in rewind
🤒 I was happy getting back in the flow of running in the week before last, however, I might have jumped too hard or quickly into it. I felt slightly off last weekend after doing my long run, and it showed on Monday. My data was off and I had a similar feeling. On Tuesday, Milhouse got sick and I joined him feeling tired, having a headache and a sore throat. I decided to take it easy for the rest of the week and focus on sleep and recovery. I'm feeling great again, but also have a terrible back pain now as I've been too stationary in the past days. I think my body is telling me to get back into it.
🎃 Although I'm not a fan of Halloween (as it's not a tradition I grew up with), we put up some decorations around the house. The boys were also very creative in making their own creations.
🐄 This weekend was the yearly town celebration. Launching with canon fire on Saturday, followed by a competition of the best looking farm animals, horse riding competition, car show and a local market. On Sunday, we went to the fair with all kinds of children attractions. It's not something I or Marge enjoy, as it's loud, crowded and expensive, but as it's only once per year we pleased the boys with a short visit, doing duck hunting, balloon shooting and a tour in the moving house.
📧 I've been playing around with Proton mail and their password manager, and I'm enjoying both. I really like the hide email feature to keep my original email address secret and subscribe to newsletters with a fake account. I'm currently still on the free tier of all accounts, but if I remain happy with my experiment I might be convinced to upgrade and switch completely. In that case I'll need to check what to get, as I do not need all tools that are offered in the unlimited package, and many single app promotions are available (reduction on mail, pass,...).
📺 Watched
📺 I continued watching Vikings and together with Marge finished the second season of SAS Rogue Heroes. We really enjoyed it and I liked this season even more than the first one. Season 3 is still in the making, so we’ll need to wait some time.
🎞️ We started watching The Brutalist, but as it’s more than 3hours long we might need a few evenings to finish it.
📚 Reading
- 🎧 I started reading Beneath a scarlet sky by Mark Sullivan. I decided to take a break from Ken Follett and go for something else. This is a fictional novel with some historical events set during WW2.
📱 Apps in focus
- Proton Authenticator and Lumo AI. Both new from the Proton stack. Authenticator is the quick and easy 2FA app available on all devices. Lumo is their privacy-focused chatbot, where everything remains private and secure, without the risk of misuse of your data or accidental online exposure. It supports personalization of chat responses and I like that you can add documents from proton drive into your conversations, again without the risk of misuse or it being used for AI training.
