Weekly rewind - W41 ⏪
⏪ Week in rewind
🎉 As I created this post, Bear suggested another URL (-new)as the one I intended to use was already in use. So it seems a celebration is in place as I've gone full circle with these weekly rewinds, publishing them weekly(ish) for the past 52 weeks.
🏃 After the disastrous running last week, I'm back on track to the level I was before. I originally had an easy week with 2 test runs planned, but as last week was already one of low volume, I decided to run what I was supposed to run last week. It all went fine, and I even had to run with the handbrake on the first few days, as everything felt easy.
📸 I'm happy to have been shooting and publishing more Snapshots. For the first time ever, I used the 48MP option of my phone. And it shows. I always marvel at the shots of others, and the detail and colours they contain; however, all are shot at a higher resolution than the default 12MP of my iPhone, which I used. So by changing to 48MP, and doing some edits afterwards, I get the same feeling as those other nice shots. Not sure if I'll continue shooting like this, as I might run out of storage quickly.
🤝 I continued paying attention to interactions and the people I met with. I've been experimenting with a few apps like Bear notes, Unhinged, Zeitgeist,... to see which works best to keep track, and I might have found the one that works for me with Unhinged. Besides testing these apps for tracking, I noticed I became much more aware of what others were saying. I remembered much more of the interactions I had, perhaps as I log some key pointers afterwards.
🎙️ It was a pleasure to get asked by Hyde from Lazybear.rs for his over/under series, giving my opinion on a few topics and tools that we have in common. You can read my 2 cents on the X100VI, Andor, push-ups and French fries on his blog.
📖 I enjoyed the whole snowball effect and interactions I had after BinaryDigit's Trying to Blog More Often post. I tell others to just hit publish and do whatever they want to do; however, I always feel blocked by my inner critic. Write whatever whenever does sound nice, and eventually I might get there.
😮💨 I've been focusing on breathing exercises, mainly box breathing, doing a few sessions per day, including one before bedtime. With box breathing, you inhale for 4 seconds, hold 4 seconds, exhale for 4 and hold for 4, which calms the body and nervous system, helping to relax. By coincidence, I've seen my HRV (heart rate variability) rise overnight, showing signs of better recovery. I'm definitely continuing box breathing and see how it impacts my wellbeing and performance over the next weeks.
📺 Watched
📺 We continued watching SAS Rogue Heroes, and it's a pity we're almost done with season 2, as we both enjoy it so much.
📺 Making progress with Vikings, season 4.
📚 Reading
After finishing A Column of Fire last week, I've been searching for a new one, but I haven't decided on my next audiobook yet. I've become so used to the voice of John Lee that other voice actors sound strange.
📱 Apps in focus
- iBreathe (iOS, Mac). While I do enjoy the experience of Unwind, 30$ (yearly) or 79$ (lifetime) is a bit much for an app that's not updated with new content and only intended for breathing. I found iBreathe, which is simple to use, allows me to create custom exercises, and logs everything to Apple Health. With free, you have limited exercises, while a one-time purchase of 3,99$ will unlock everything.
🏋️ Fitness log
- 🏃 Running: 73km (💪)
