Weekly rewind - W19 ⏪
⏪ Week in rewind
🤔 Maybe because of the current phase of life I'm in with limited free time, but I noticed we always fill the free gaps with doing something or being efficient rather than doing nothing or letting our mind wander. After writing Do we always need to be busy?, I'm doing my easy runs without any music or audiobook, just to enjoy the moment/scenery and let my mind wander. Joel Chrono shared a similar observation in his The constant need for a source of entertainment blogpost.
🏃 Just like the past weeks, I've been able to commit to my running and strength training. Perhaps as my 20k race is due in 2 weeks. Due to this hyper-focus, I've also been monitoring my daily food and drink intake to see if gains can be made that way.
📨 Kelly from oh these trees shared Your email can make someone happy, which is true. A simple act, as I wrote in Share Your Praise & Why It Matters , can have a tremendous impact. After I discovered Sal's Happiness in parenthood, I reached out to him and as a result we've had a nice email exchange, even sharing a book recommendation. Sal even wrote a follow-up to his original post: Blogroll: parenthood, writing for personal growth. So, as a reminder to myself and others, don't let the extra step to contact someone stop you.
💬 Working from home can be a hit and miss. I've been looking into many solutions, including body doubling, but I've never felt comfortable enough to share online. Following recent wins [8] - studies and people from Ava and how a discord chat kept her motivated, I went out looking for something similar. At first, I found bodydoubling.com and their discord, but also our own omg.lol Discord supports a productivity channel. So I've been posting my daily tasks there with some nice folks following up, keeping me accountable to do what I have to. In case you ever need someone to pester you to get something done, let me know, and I'd be happy to help.
🎂 On Sunday, I ran with my brother-in-law to the family birthday celebration. 23km was the perfect justification for all the food and cake we would get there. As the weather was nice, we enjoyed time outdoors, and I was specifically happy holding my X100VI again, taking shots of the festivities. Again, a reminder to myself to take it more often with me when going somewhere.
📷 As I was too caught up in running, I've not been taking many snapshots lately or published online. I might do another challenge to keep myself in the habit of shooting and publishing.
📺 Watched
- 📺 Andor. Slow progress. I started to watch episode 4.
📚 Reading
- 🎧 World without End by Ken Follett
📱 Apps in focus
- No new apps installed in the past week, but I did get a subscription to MyMind as I ran out of cards to save. I've been using it for weeks now and it feels right in my workflow to store, keep track or review things for later, like this weekly rewind.

Just move on from Duolingo by extremq.com. I've been using Duolingo for years to practice and refresh my Spanish and French, but reading up on all the bad changes, I'm tormented. I do not agree with their choices and should stop using it, but I still want to refresh my languages. I'm looking at alternatives, but haven't found any yet to replace my daily language practice as Duolingo does.
Don’t be a -1 by Josh. A nice reminder to take responsibility and step up when necessary.
Morning routine by garret. On working from home yet daily commuting for 45 minutes to work.
Mark Zuckerberg sees loneliness as a market opportunity by Justin Pot. A nice reminder that big tech is not out to help us, and hoping for better in the future.
🏋️ Fitness log
- 🏃 Running: 53km (❤️)
