Finding focus with Focus Flight ๐ฑ
My mind can be messy. And even forgetful sometimes. I'm thinking about one thing, and the next it's something else. The same can occur when I'm working. I'm focused on a task when a thought pops into my mind (work/private), or a notification, or ... And I lose focus. I multi-task, and I'm no longer 100% into what I should be doing. And, I lose time getting back into it.
Over time, I tried many methods and apps, with focus music, timers, ... but eventually, the outcome was still the same. My mind drifted, and I lost my focus.
Until I recently found Focus Flight.
It wants to help you focus by pretending you take a flight.
In essence, it's no different from other focus apps or timers.
You set a time you want to focus and get to work.
But it's its execution and experience that is keeping me grounded.
Whenever I want to focus, I set a duration and book a flight based on the possible options. My intention is to fly to Tokyo, so every flight is a step in that direction.
After booking the flight, I select the type of work and seating, and check in. Once that is done, the plane takes off, and I start to focus.
But also during a focused session, you have an experience.
You can have a view of the plane moving on the map (showing distance and time) or look outside at the clouds. This with or without the engine sound, or other focus music.
Once I'm flying, I focus.
If my mind wanders, I look at my phone and see the plane moving, reminding me to get back to what I started.
I could set a simple timer and make it visible as well. But it never worked as well as this. I feel I let my crew and passengers down if I stop my focus.
Focus flight is available for iOS and Mac. You can get it for free, but premium gives you unlimited flights, options, support for live activities, standby mode & widgets.
The developers have plans to add more features and are very responsive.
I got the lifetime unlock at a higher rate than available today, and they happily refunded me for the difference.
