Doing things immediately ✍️

This morning, before the boys woke up, I stumbled on a big pile of stuffed animals in our bedroom. Bart has issues with falling asleep, so we put him in our bed first and move him to his bedroom once he's asleep. He used to have one stuffed animal that he wanted to have beside him, however, as days have gone by, he kept adding more. Too many in fact to return to his bedroom in one go, so nowadays, when I move him, I leave most at side of our bed.

And this morning I marveled at the amount that were lying there, and I took a picture of the big pile. I thought it would be a nice memory to look back at. I add memories like these in Day One, to get an On this day reminder, and recently, also started publishing them in my Pagecord blog experiment for viewing and usage later.

However, I didn't take action immediately. And if I look at my Pagecord homepage, I see I have quite a few updates pending. But it’s not that difficult, I can do updates via the admin panel, or even via email. It doesn't take much time.
And yet, I postponed them, with the idea of later.

I normally try to follow the "2-minute rule", which says to do something immediately if it doesn't take more than 2 minutes of work.

When I finish breakfast, I put my things in the dishwasher. Similarly, with empty packages, I crush them and take them to the garbage bin(s).

Doing something immediately ensures it doesn't pile up, or becomes an action that someone else has to take care of or, as Sylvie wrote yesterday, becomes forgotten because other things capture our attention.

Just like Sylvia, I need to remind myself that if I take a snapshot for a specific purpose, I should take action immediately if time allows me.

Thanks for taking the time to read this!
