Weekly rewind - W49 ⏪
It's not Christmas yet, but our tree is a bright spark in these dark times.
Week in rewind
I had a difficult week with my health. On top of being tired, my stomach also started to cause cramps and pain, so still a lot of early nights and aspirin to get through the day. I went to the doctor again, who took blood samples so let's see what the results turn out to be. That being said, yesterday was the first day without aspirin and today I no longer feel tired. Hopefully, this is the shift I've been hoping for.
The drawing habit I started with 1.5 weeks ago has stuck with me. I've been doing doodles for 14 days straight. I really enjoy it, and while it put myself to do it at least 10 minutes I'm spending a lot more time on it.
After reading my previous week notes, I was asked by Kevin Humdrum to create a drawing of his Grub which I could not decline. So my variant of Grub is now available on Kevin's grub.rocks websites.
I'm still on the lookout for a Fujifilm X100VI. I'm running my script to check its availability a few times a day, with no success.
Seeing so many people writing about struggles with social media or considering a digital detox, I wrote about tools that could help with setting restrictions. When I'm at the office I don't have issues, but when I'm at home I can struggle with focus so these tools help me to stay away from distractions.
Now that Sint-Nicolaas has delivered his gifts to the children and has returned to Spain, we have started to put our Christmas decorations in- and outside the house to create a nice and warm atmosphere in these dark times.
I started playing Civilization 6 on iOS again as you can now get it for free if you have a Netflix subscription. Alongside the game, you also get all expansions which normally cost 39.99$ each.
Snapshots
While I didn't go out much, I focused on taking snapshots when possible.
Watched
Black Doves: The new Netflix British spy thriller series starring Keira Knightley and Ben Whishaw about a professional undercover spy who starts her own investigation when her lover gets killed in London at Christmas. We've only watched the first episode, but I like it so far.
Shogun: I managed to watch a few more episodes. I still like the setting and plot.
Reading
Meditations for Mortals, one chapter every day as specified.
Pillars of the Earth, a few more chapters as entertainment during a long drive.
Apps in focus
Noir: As I've been using Safari on iOS more, Noir is excellent at providing dark mode support in the evening.
Wipr2: an app for all Apple devices that blocks ads, popups, trackers, cookie warnings, and other nasty things that make the web slow and ugly.
