Weekly rewind - W48 ⏪
One of the doodles I did last week.
Week in rewind
I finally went to see a doctor as my son was not feeling too well. Seems that we both have Covid, luckily with mild systems. Unfortunately, there isn’t much we can do about it. We need to rest and get it out of our system. Although it’s not nice being in this state, I’m happy to finally know why my stomach was so upset (a symptom of the new variant) or felt so tired. I already saw it through my Garmin data but with this confirmation, I’m taking it easy and spending more time on TV and books.
A blog post by Darren Hester on drawing as meditation got me into drawing. I’ve always wanted to draw but felt overwhelmed as a beginner. Darren was nice to point me to Art before Breakfast to use any available moment to doodle something. And it worked. I’ve been doodling every day.
Following the family birthday party of last week, my son had his birthday party with his classmates this weekend. A Lego-themed party with 10 eight-year-old boys at our home. They had great fun, were incredibly loud and made a big mess. Unfortunately, I wasn’t that much of help, so big credit to my girlfriend for keeping it under control and organizing it all.
While I do enjoy my trusty Fujifilm XT-20, I’ve set my eyes on the new X100VI, which unfortunately is nowhere to be found. I’m searching online with the help of AI but so far without any luck.
My inbox got flooded with black Friday deals. We already have everything that we need so I didn’t get anything. However, through the indie app sales I got a discount for Sofa, where I keep track of a lot of things.
My blog got extended with snapshots, some quick photos I take and find interesting to share. You automatically get them through my RSS feed, but in case you want something specific, have a look at all my feeds.
Watched
Deadpool & Wolverine (★ ★ ★ ★ ☆): I'm a big Ryan Reynolds fan, so combining his humour with the Marvel universe and multiple cameos of old characters made me enjoy this one very much.
X-Men 97: I watched this after Deadpool, which got me interested in Marvel again. But although this show was recommended by many, I didn’t have a wow effect after the first episode. My viewing time is limited, so I’m putting this one on ice.
Shogun: I only watched the first episode and I like the story of internal conflicts and power struggles in the old Japan.

Art before breakfast: small exercises and a visual incentive on using each available opportunity to draw.
Meditations for mortals: short daily lessons to help us accept our limitations and finite abilities in life.
Apps in focus
Tayasui sketches: While there are many drawing apps and I already own Procreate I enjoy the simple drawing canvas and options from Tayasui and its ability to cloud sync to all my devices.
Actions for Obsidian: An app I’m trying to bridge Obsidian with iOS shortcuts for quicker entry and retrieval.
