Weekly rewind - W40 ⏪
Watching the soccer game with a much-needed umbrella.
⏪ Week in rewind
🤒 Perhaps I'm more sensitive with all the training I'm doing, but I got a little ill at the start of the week. Luckily, it wasn't too serious; however, it still had a big impact on how my week unfolded. This minor sickness impacted my sleep, and as I already found out that sleep is crucial to me, I haven't been too productive or active for most of the week.
🏃 Due to this minor sickness, my running got a heavy beating as well. I thought I could catch up by the end of the week; however, as my data and feelings were still not ok, I decided to take a step back. I didn't enjoy it, but going out for a run while I wasn't ready could have a bigger impact. I did re-start with running over the weekend, but all runs were based on how I felt, and not according to any pace or effort.
☀️/⛈️ The typical autumn weather has arrived. Enjoying the sun one moment and running for cover the next due to rain. Weather apps have become better at predicting rain, although during the soccer match this weekend, or the evening run on Saturday, they weren't accurate, with a soaked run or match as a result.
⚽ The soccer season is in full swing, and with Nelson and Milhouse playing, it's almost every day I'm at a soccer pitch. On Saturday, they both had a game, but at a different location, meaning that the whole family needs to work together to ensure they can play. The game of Milhouse didn't last that long though, as rain came pouring down and the referee decided to call it quits.
🧔 The article Being a better friend by An Almost Anonymous Blog resurfaced an idea I had to keep track of my connections. Not for the sake of keeping track but rather to be a good friend and not forget the things they are up to, or their birthday. Life is extremely busy, especially with children, and things might fall through the cracks, even though you might not want them. A system to keep track and follow up makes a lot of sense, but it also needs to be easy to use. While I love Obsidian, I'm not sure if that's the way to go for me. For now, I settled on Bear as it allows me to add an entry in a split second, through Drafts or even shortcuts. One thing it doesn't solve yet is reminders when to follow up.
📺 Watched
📺 Black Rabbit. We're halfway, and while we enjoy the show and its cinematography, the fact that the main characters get deeper into trouble with each episode starts to add friction to watching the next one. So instead, we need something different before we can continue.
📺 SAS Rogue Heroes, season 2.
📺 Vikings, season 4.
📚 Reading
- 🎧 A Column of Fire by Ken Follett. Finished! The 3rd book in the Kingsbridge saga, a historical novel set between 1558 and 1606, using fictional characters to tell real historical events. I really like these books and storytelling, although a minor nuisance is that it's too predictable which of the fictional characters live and which will die.
🏋️ Fitness log
- 🏃 Running: 40km
