Weekly rewind - W39 ⏪
My weekly weekend soccer appointment, shot with a new recipe I'm still tweaking.
⏪ Week in rewind
🏃 Another perfect running week. I completed all 6 runs as planned and felt good after each one. Even the long run of yesterday went well. Either my body is getting used to it all, or the extra focus I'm putting on nutrition (carbs and protein) is paying off.
🧠 I finally made the move and went for Obsidian Sync. I've been using Obsidian daily for more than 4 years on iPhone, Mac & Windows, with iCloud as sync service. It did work ok-ish for most of the time; however, in some cases, notes failed to sync or updates were slow to load. I've been using sync for a week now, and everything I experienced before is a thing of the past. Obsidian loads quickly and can be used almost instantly (even on mobile).
🧠 I further extended my use of Obsidian Bases. Queries I did via data view are now done with bases, and I also started capturing apps into a base via the Web Clipper. I keep all clipping templates in sync via a backup stored in my vault.
📸 I've been doing a lot of testing with mood.camera and a new recipe, where I feel I might have found what I was looking for. As a result, I've been shooting a lot with my phone, using the result directly afterwards, without further tweaking. This instead of my original "RAW and Lightroom mobile editing" workflow, which often slowed me down. I'll do some more testing and will share it afterwards once I'm happy.
✍️ I wrote Why always me? and the feeling we sometimes might have that things only happen to us, not to others. Which is not the case. And as it seems, the issues I had with my heart rate monitor were caused by my own actions, and not a malfunction. I initially paired it with an app on my phone, which it always connected to, before my watch could connect to it.
😎 We had a great weekend. On Friday evening, we enjoyed mussels and fries with my son's soccer team, but it probably wasn't the best idea to go for a run afterwards... Saturday was kind of relaxing (especially with Bart going to the grandparents), with a soccer game in the morning and an enjoyable birthday party in the evening. Always nice to meet up with people I haven't seen in a while. And yesterday I did 2h with the family as company by bike, for the first part. And nice temperatures and sunshine throughout the whole weekend.
⌚ I'm still happy with my transition back to my Apple Watch as a daily watch, instead of my Garmin. Paired with Bevel and all the activity and food logging, it provides a much clearer overview than what Garmin could offer. I see Garmin will add a health status soon, but I don't think it'll change my mind. I still use my Garmin for all my runs to see how I perform and how my VO2 evolves.
📱 I started to list all my subscriptions via Submanager. I used Orbit before, but its phone-only solution was hard for me to add everything. Submanager support iOS and Mac, and even the free version allows syncing between both. I now have a list of everything and what I potentially can get rid of.
🧐 While I did read a lot of blogs last week, I didn't save many articles, except for this one by Ava on grief, disability and gratitude, which I found deeply touching.

📱 Apps in focus
Submanager (iOS/Mac). A simple and minimal subscription tracker with reminders to know when something is about to renew. You can do a lot with the free version. Getting the one-time unlock, you get unlimited subscriptions, a breakdown by category, payment methods, ...
Zeitgeist (iOS). A type of micro-feed journal to log updates or keep track of things. It reminds me of Day One, but all in a more minimal and easier-to-use package.
The outsiders (iOS). The second app from the developers of Gentler streaks, focused on athletes who spent time outside their comfort zone. Based on your Apple Health data, it shows your vitals, how you're training and whether it's ok to train or not.
