Weekly rewind - W24 ⏪
The drawing I made for my son.
⏪ Week in rewind
🏃➡️ My 8-year-old son Nelson ran his first 5k running event, and I'm so proud of him. He ran it without issues and without stopping. This, while he didn't train at all last week and only did a few runs the week before, some even with issues to complete. So I was doubtful he would be able to complete it successfully, but yesterday, it all went well. I ran alongside him and a friend, controlling their pace and pushing them to overtake some adults, which they gladly did.
🖌️ Nelson was away for 4 days last week due to a school trip. The teachers suggested adding some personal notes in his luggage, which I did via some drawings (from a game he's playing), accompanied by a short message. It's been a while since I drew anything, and I almost forgot how much I enjoy this. What moved me even more was the note we received back from Nelson, saying how much he liked the drawing, accompanied by his own game drawing. This was a nice reminder I should pause more often and take time for these small hobbies I enjoy.
☀️ The weather has been nice and hot all week, although some days, it was perhaps a bit too much. I went out for a few runs in the evening at +30°C, thinking it would be a good heat training, however, while trying to remain in Zone 2, these runs still felt really hard. Having a drink outside or enjoying the garden were more fitting for this weather, which I did the other evenings.
🏗️ I did some updates to this blog, as I felt the title was a bit empty, and the navigation was not pointing to all the pages I want people to be aware of.
📚 I'm still searching for my ideal RSS reading setup. Perhaps I'm making too much of a fuss about it and complicating things where I shouldn't. But I think it's because I'm on an iPhone & Windows configuration and look for specific features. On my iphone, I like using Reeder, which looks nice & minimal, has great multi-feed support (rss, youtube, reddit, glass, podcasts, ...) and provides a pick what you want to read experience from the stream of sources, instead of an unread count of what you still need to check. But, during most days I'm on Windows and Reeder isn't available for it, so, as an alternative, I'm using Inoreader to check my feeds. But, this creates a disconnect of progress, difficult feed management,... I could and should settle on a single setup for both, but so far haven't found a good-looking & minimal app that fits my needs. I've already tried InoReader + Fiery Feeds, Feedbin, InoReader + Reeder Classic,... As I said, I'm probably making too big of a deal about this, but I can't wrap my head around it. What are you using for your RSS reading and curation? What's your RSS setup and process?
📸 I'm happy to have been in photography mode again, taking many snapshots and publishing them as well.
📺 Watched
- 📺 Andor. I've finally been able to catch up a bit, one more episode to go.
📚 Reading
Again, a week without reading. Most evenings were spent running, going out with friends and enjoying some time in the garden.
📱 Apps in focus
Pagi - Morning Pages & Diary. I wrote about the power of writing in the morning, and this is exactly what Pagi is about. It's a very minimal morning Mac & iOS writing app, available for a 9.99$ unlock.
Neuecast, podcast app. I'm a sucker for nice-looking and minimal apps, and this podcast app is exactly that. No clutter, no ads, no feature fatigue. Free to use, fully configurable via a one-time unlock of 9.99$.
You can find more recommended apps via the app library.
🔗 Read or saved
I need to catch up on all articles I saved, as well as try out this script of Yordi to organise the Bear article feed by month. This all in an automated way, while I'm currently doing it manually.
