Weekly rewind - W14&15 ⏪
I didn't have the chance to write a weekly rewind last week as I was on holiday so I'm consolidating the past 2 weeks in this rewind.
⏪ Week in rewind
W14
🧳 Almost all week was spent preparing for our holiday to Malta. It's not the first time we've gone on holiday, but it was the first time flying with the whole family, so this added some extra pressure on what to pack. When we go by car, we can pack (almost) anything we need, just in case, but now we had to be cautious to remain within the restraints of our luggage. We managed to do so, but we definitely weren't travelling light.
🛫 I've had my fair share of flying already, including issues and delays, so I'm happy that everything went well from arriving at the airport to security, flying and arriving at our destination in Malta.
✈️ It was a special feeling for the boys, flying for the first time, but they did seem to enjoy it. Of course, some Minecraft can always ease the tension 😄
🚕 Feels weird, but only now I used Uber for the first time, dropping us off at the airport, and later on driving us to our location in Malta.

🚗 Following a few days of walking in and discovering the 3 cities, I went back to the airport to collect our rental car, providing us more freedom to see and tour the country. I was extremely nervous since in Malta they drive on the left side of the road and have a southern attitude of driving a bit more aggressively. I'm happy that everything went well and the car was returned without any damage.
👮 No damage, but I did get a fine for illegal parking. I tried paying, but failed. As the fine was handwritten, it wasn't in the system yet, so the local council couldn't help. And neither could they tell me what to do next... The fine also didn't have the ID to follow up online, so now it's with the rental company to organize what's needed.
🏃 I tried to stay committed to my running schedule, where I completed all foreseen runs, except the long runs. However, as we did a lot of walking during the days, and Malta has a lot of hills and stairs, I feel my body got sufficient training. I'm happy I kept to my running schedule, not only as it helped for my 20k race preparation, but also because it offers a quick way of exploring the beautiful scenery without too much effort.
📷 I became obsessed with the Mood Camera app. I was already using it for a while, but with the latest update, you can now create your own custom presets/recipes. Inspired by my Fujifilm x100VI, I created a recipe to set the correct mood right out of the camera. And I must admit, following this update, I've been using Mood camera more than Halide + Lightroom.
📸 Speaking of my Fujifilm X100VI. I love this camera! It remained glued to my hand during the whole trip, providing me with all the necessary controls to create the shots I wanted. While I normally would shoot raw and do my edits after the trip, I used the JPGs from the camera to share with the homefront as they were already looking so good.
🇲🇹 Malta is such a nice country. Wherever we went, there was a nice photograph to take. It's relatively small, where you can drive from south to north in about an hour, but it has some very nice cities, scenery, ancient history, neighbouring islands and beaches.
☀️ While the initial weather forecast wasn't that great, it shifted during the trip, where almost all days were sunny and of comfortable temperature. I feel fortunate that, because of this, we were able to do and see everything we planned.
📚 While I did bring some books, I hardly read anything during the whole trip, except for our travel guide. Running in the evening, managing and sharing updates with the homefront and planning for the next day kept me more than busy.
🤔 The trip also made me reflect on how little you actually need. While in the daily flow, you feel you need this and that (tools, apps, ...), being on holiday made me disconnect from it all and wonder whether I really needed them.
🛬 Returning from our holiday went as smoothly as going. No delays, nor issues.
