Weekly rewind - W14-15-16 ⏪

Again a rewind from the past weeks, but this time more deliberate. I've been on holiday last week and the week before was extremely busy, so I put all effort on work, preparation and enjoyment. But I must admit, when I opened iA to write this rewind, I immediately realized how much I enjoy writing and that I perhaps should put in more effort to show up more often. Work is still crazy busy and my running is peaking at the moment, so let's see if I can restart again at my usual writing pace.
⏪ Weeks in rewind
✈️ We went on a holiday to Lanzarote. Not the first time we've been flying, but the first time taking a longer flight (4h), especially for the boys. Departure and arrival weren't that great with waking up at 3h30 and getting back home at midnight, but when it's for a holiday it's ok, right? And overall, the travel went fine. With the help of games and movies, the boys hardly noticed anything from the flight.
🏝️ Lanzarote is a nice but special island. We went there for better weather than what we have in Belgium, and that is just what we got. Sunshine almost every day, and nice temperatures as well. There is the factor of the wind to consider that can play a role in activities. Going one day to a location, it was cold-ish and winds almost blew us away, while a few days later we wore a t-shirt for walking. I'm calling Lanzarote a "special" island as it's completely volcanic with lots of lava planes. As a result, much of the landscape looks bare and often black. Not a lot of green or trees for example. On the other hand, there are some nice things to see and do (walking, caves,...) and lots of opportunities to relax at the beaches. I enjoyed the trip, but don't think I'll ever go back as we experienced most, if not all of it.
🎮 I've tried playing more games via a retro gaming console (Trimbrick UI), however, it never did stick. Although there a lot of games, I never really found one that pulled me in. I always returned to premium games on my phone. For the trip, I bought a small 8bitdo lite 2 controller, which was exactly what I needed. It's portable enough to carry around, while easy to use and hold. Since I got it, I played a lot of Sea of Stars and Kingdom two crowns which I wouldn't imagine myself playing with on-screen controls.
🏃 Running-wise, I'm doing good. I wouldn't call it great (yet) as I missed a few long runs and speed sessions in the last weeks. But I'm remaining consistent, running almost every day following my set schedule of recovery, speed work and long runs. I'd like to keep this up until the end of the year so I can be at my best when starting the 2 marathons I registered for. On Sunday, I'll be doing another race, a 10 miler this time. I've been running this event for many years, but never was at the right fitness to get a good result. So let's see if I finally can break through my 1h10 target.
💻 Work has been crazy busy. A lot has been going on with a platform that I manage, while another project is in the pipeline for the whole team, likely keeping us busy for the next 1+ year. Perhaps it's because I have a lot of things to do, and a lot with urgency, but I feel I'm thriving. I'm on top things (as far as possible) and focused on everything I need to do without much slacking or procrastination. I guess this is what I needed to get out of my slump. Things were going a bit too easy, making me to slow down too much.
🚸 The boys had 2 weeks of holiday, where they were off to the grandparents for 1 week, before we went of to Lanzarote. This gave me and Marge a nice break, and relaxing week, while making preparations for our travel. While we still had a lot to do, I enjoyed the moments we could slow down, not having to rush in the morning for school, or in the evening for soccer, ...
