Weekly rewind - W13 ⏪
My weekly appointment with football, supporting my boys during their games.
⏪ Week in rewind
🩺 Nelson was the next and last in the family to get stomach flu. Luckily, he didn't suffer as much as the others, but still needed a few days to rest. As a result, I had to work a few more days from home. While working from home has its advantages of reduced commuting time and being able to do other things, I'm having more and more issues remaining focused on work. Depending on how I feel in the morning, I either have a great day or keep struggling for most of the day. I've been trying to get my head around this as to why this happens, but so far haven't found a magical answer or solution yet.
⌨️ Recovering from the stomach flu, I came to the conclusion that my stomach is playing a huge role in how I feel as well as my sleep, which in turn also impacts my wellbeing. So I decided to keep a food log of everything I eat and drink, and how I felt and slept each day. Hopefully, this will provide me with insights on everything that has an impact, reducing drinking or eating it. And hopefully, this can also help with the issues of working at home. To keep logging simple, I append everything to a daily note in Bear with tags for easy retrieval and review. Food and drinks are added via Drafts, keeping the process to log, quick and easy. I've also embraced the same approach to push interstitial journal notes to my Obsidian vault.
🥷 Following the How do you view the world? (S-N-T-F) blog post by Joseph Lee, I started to dig into the Personality Ninja test. I've always been very interested in these personality tests and learning about my strengths and weaknesses. Following a 35-minute test, I received a few potential profiles, and I'm now going through all to see which one applies the most.
🏃➡️ I finally was able to commit a full week to running, getting out 6 days out of 7. I'm very fortunate that when my body is feeling good, it can cope with a lot of training, increasing my weekly mileage to 50km from a regular 30km. And with the switch to daylight saving time, it's no longer dark in the evening, providing an extra motivation to go out to run.
☀️ The weather was nice for most of last week (except for some rain on Friday), so I could go out with the boys for short bike ride to release some energy, and we had a nice family walk yesterday in between the pasta and desserts.
📺 Watched
📺 Adolescence (👍 - liked it). We watched the 4 episodes of Adolescence, following the arrest of a young teenager for murder and everything afterwards, from investigation to psychological interview and the impact on his family. As a parent, it hits harder as you can never really protect your children or know what's going on with them. The one-shot filming was amazing (especially the drone shot), but also the Achilles heel, making scenes longer since cutting to the next scene wasn't possible.
📺 Daredevil Born Again. All caught up, awaiting Disney to release the next episodes. I love this show with its mood and pace, building up to the (hopefully) climax at the end of the season.

📱 Apps in focus
- SaveDay I was looking for something to quickly bookmark anything for quick retrieval afterwards. While Raindrop would be perfect for this, my company doesn't allow access to it, so I instead started using SaveDay. It acts the same as MyMind, allowing you to save anything, having it auto-recognized with AI for searching and usage afterwards. A free account of Mymind allows you to save 100 cards in total, while with SaveDay, you can save up to 100 items per month (which is enough for me for the time being).

As an experiment to enhance my exposure to reading more, I decided to keep a log (via SaveDay) of items that caught my eye/attention in a good way.
