Weekly rewind - W04 ⏪
A shot from yesterday's run, taking in the landscape.
Week in rewind
After reading an article and getting questions from my children on why I was on my phone, I started reflecting on how and why I use it. I can and do a lot with my phone which is not necessarily bad, however, I found I should set boundaries on when to use it. Feeling good about the changes I made.
I'm happy that I could maintain a high level of focus and motivation during last week, continuing into this week. It's like a snowball gaining momentum rolling down the hill. I was able to execute and finish more things, providing more motivation to take on even more. Coincidentally, I found out that high-intensity efforts contributed to more happiness and motivation. So as a general advice to myself and others, when feeling stuck or unmotivated, do a high-intensive activity and see how you feel afterwards.
Via my analytics, I noticed that some posts caught others to write a reply, link to them or inspired them to sign my guestbook. Let me tell you how grateful I am to anyone for doing this. I followed and replied to each one of you who did. Let's keep supporting each other.
I've been in the Apple Ecosystem for almost 20 years and have been a great fan of the Airpods range. They are small, and easy to connect and switch to another device. However, after owning a few pairs, the last one had so many issues (depleted Airpod one side, muffled sound, failures,...) that I decided to go for something else. As I used my Airpods a lot for commuting and sport, I decided to go for the new Shokz Openrun Pro 2. They transmit sound via bone conduction with the benefit of being open ears. This means I can wear them and still hear everything of surrounding sounds to increase safety while running or biking. I'll put them through more testing in the coming days and might write a review afterwards.
Looks like we went from Winter to Autumn here in Belgium. Temperatures have gone up, but in turn, we had more rain and heavy winds. Testing each and every parent that is supporting their children with outdoor activities.
Watched
Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One (★ ★ ★ ★ ☆): With AI planning to take over the world, the team comes back in action to battle this new threat. Beautiful shots, locations and stunts that made it very enjoyable.
King Richard (★ ★ ★ ★ ☆): The story of the rise to glory of the Williams sisters focuses on the commitment, perseverance, struggles, and plan of their father to get them there. Great performance by Will Smith!
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (★ ★ ★ ★ ☆): Another one in the new Planet of the Apes series, setting a new story after the Ceasar age. Great visuals and performances that made me enjoy this movie more than I thought it would.
Reading
I'm a sucker for Ken Follet so it shouldn't come as a surprise I started listening to the second book in his Pillars of the Earth series, called World without end.
Apps in focus
- Superwhisper: a tool to AI process voice to text. The nice thing is that you can create your own prompts for processing, and do it locally on your device, while having it all for free. I had it installed for some time, but I could only now see its potential to transfer my voice into structured and correctly formatted text. I got much better results than I ever had with Siri.
Fitness log
Unfortunately, I couldn't do all my runs as intended (due to weather & schedule) but I'm happy that for the runs I did, the intensity or distance increased without many side effects afterwards.
My biking distance also increased with using my bike again for commuting to the office.
- Running: 16km
- Biking: 36km
