Shots and log from Lanzarote 📸
I thought I'd share some pictures and a small journal from our recent trip to Lanzarote, where we stayed for 8 days (including travel).
We arrived early on Saturday morning, leaving the next Saturday, late in the afternoon. We rented a house in the Playa Blanca area, which is in the south of the Island. We deliberately chose that area to have better protection for the wind, which was blowing heavily during the first days. We also rented a car to travel freely.
Regarding activities, we didn't want to overload our boys (7-9) with too many, so every day, we had a mix of grown-up stuff, followed by beach play.
Activity log
Hereby a short summary of the activities that we did:
Day 1
- Arrival, relaxation at the house and a short walk through Playa Blanca
Day 2
- Short walk and visit of the market of Teguise
- Visit to the Fundación César Manrique (house within the lava landscape)
- Visit to the Cactus Garden (I was never asked to take as many photos by my sons as here)
Day 3
- Visit to Jameos Del Agua (cave with albino lobsters)
- Punta Mujeres for lunch, watching the natural pools and seeing the waves hit the shore
- Walk inside Ceuvas de los Verdes (500m walk within the cave)
Day 4
- Arrecife city walk along the coast line.
- Small walk through Las Grietas (volcanic cracks)
Day 5
- A walk to the crater of Montana Roja and around it
Day 6
- Bus ride through Timanfaya national parc (a nice view through the protected lava landscape). Make sure to buy a ticket online first, and go as early as possible. Otherwise you can't enter or have to wait a long time.
- A walk around Montana Cuervo
Day 7
- A short visit to El Gulfo (4 color landscape)
- Seeing the waves hit the rocks at Los Hervidores
Day 8
- A walk to Los Charcones (bathing in the natural pools and spotting crabs and other sealife)
Regarding beaches, we only visited those in the Play Blanca area.
The first days we went to Playa Flamingo (Southwest), however, those on the Southeast are much nicer and better protected against the wind. Everyone talks about Playa Papagayo which really is breathtaking, but often crowded. We therefore went to Playa de la Cera which is next to it and just as nice.
The last days we took refuge at Playa Mujeres, less protected, but much bigger and more accessible than the others.
