I need time to think ✍️

Earlier this week I read Handwriting is slow which gives me time to think by Juha-Matti Santala. It's about how he deliberately uses pen and paper as it's much slower than typing, helping him to process his thoughts.

When I read this, I immediately could relate to this.
While I journal and write digitally, I also have the need to process everything properly before writing it down.

I'm not stupid, but my minds needs time to process things.
I remember quite a few talks or discussions, where only after leaving, my mind started processing everything properly and then getting the I should have said X or Y. Not that I failed during these talks, but just that I could have said or done things in a better way.

I also feel this when I'm writing something. I need to take my time about what I'll be writing next. Sure, I might have the idea about the direction or message, but still, with every sentence, I need to think about how to write next one.

I'm amazed by people who can have a conversation or argument and always seem to have the correct reply ready. Who can immediately switch gears and still be on top of everything. Those who know exactly what to write or speak, faster than anyone else.

I know I'll never be like that, I need some time in my head to think. And that's ok. I'm aware of my limitations and nowadays know perfectly well how to deal with situations, giving myself time to process everything.

But it's nice to see I'm not alone.

Thanks for taking the time to read this!
