A personal Pagecord photography project ๐Ÿ“ท

What a nice alliteration! This week, I got a nice message from Luus. She told me she enjoyed reading Share your ordinary adventures and weeknotes โœ๏ธ, and how she felt the same. In her message, she also included a link to her own photo blog called Elke dag een foto van Luus on which she adds a least one photo per day.

But while I often take a photo of a nice landscape, sunset, colour palette,... she uses a more personal angle. As she described it, "I want to capture the nice/special moments with my daughter as I might forget these small details when she's grown up.".

And that's what immediately caught my eye when checking her photos. They were more personal, with some kind of storytelling. A game they played, an activity they did, a book,... Just a small glimpse into the life of Luus and her family. And that's what I liked about them. This personal touch and daily storytelling.

I love photography in all its facets. A nice landscape, building, a tree, sunset, colours,... I enjoy shooting all of it. However, I enjoy photography the most when around my family, and I can document them in the activities we/they are doing. Perhaps, as Luus mentioned, to keep a record of moments that might fade from memory.

As I had some issues with my inner critic still defining what I publish, I decided to start a new photography project. Instead of the regular snapshots I've been publishing, I'll be focusing more on the personal side with some storytelling, as a memory of what we've been up to.

While for this project I could post it on this blog or create a new Bear blog, I decided to use Pagecord 1. It's fairly new and not as feature-rich as Bear, but because of it, it's minimal and simple. No other distractions. However, the main reason for choosing Pagecord was its feature to post via email. This lowers the barrier to publishing. I can select a photo from my library, hit share and my email client, add a title, and press send for the blog post to go live. I'm not saying it's hard to do it with Bear, but the process of publishing requires a few more steps. Especially when I do edits via Lightroom or Darkroom.

It's also a fresh start. No followers, no expectations, no pressure towards myself.

I've been adding quite a few photos in the last days, and for now, I'm keeping the project private.
I might eventually decide to share it once it takes shape.

Stay tuned for more updates!
And rest assured that my main activities will continue here.

Thanks for taking the time to read this!

  1. In case you're curious about Pagecord, David did a nice review of the platform.
